Talentty… hitting the right recuiting notes, but needs better implementation

talenty1.jpgTalentty is a recruiting website with a few good ideas up it’s sleeves. It describes itself as a career matchmaking & specialized jobboard and is trying to adopt a bottoms-up approach to online recruitment. It comes from the same people who run JobMilan, a recruitment centric blog that aggregates jobs on the web and has a fair bit of following (it has close to 4000 RSS subscribers).

Talentty has specialized jobboards for different industries & job functions. For example- all software jobs can be found at software.talentty.com; walk-in jobs are available at walkin.talentty.com. For passive jobs seekers (who do not want to be actively hunting for jobs online), Talentty allows creation of anonymous profiles. They also have an ‘employer jobbord‘ section that lists all the jobs for a particular company (free of charge).

The website was launched a week back and does not show much activity at this stage. Having said that, I think some of their ideas are promising. The free employer jobboard could be easily spawned off into a hosted, customizable offering that employers could append (or redirect) to their own website. This would save employers the hassle of building their own jobs section. The seperate job boards for walkins, startups, freelancers, freshers etc could be serving useful niches. Though the website’s design/UI is fairly unimpressive and could do with much needed improvement.

I have blogged earlier about why the big online job portals, while doing a great job at serving the mass market, have become practically useless for particular types of recruitment requirements e.g – for startups; there is ample scope for innovative new recruitment modes or channels, specially ones that leverage technologies like RSS, mashups, aggregation etc.
